PROHIBITED ITEMS

  1. Narcotics (drugs) as defined by the International Narcotics Control Board and other illicit drugs as defined by the country of destination 
  1. Psychotropic substances under international control 
  1. Obscene or immoral communication and articles, including pornographic material 
  1. Human remains 
  1. Firearms and ammunition 
  1. Counterfeit and pirated goods, 
  1. Coins, 
  1. Bank notes 
  1. Precious stones, gold, silver, platinum (whether manufactured or not) 
  1. Explosives 
  1. Gases 
  1. Flammable Liquids 
  1. Flamable solids;substances liable to spontaneous combustion 
  1. Oxidizing substances and organic peroxides 
  1. Toxic and infectious substances 
  1. Corrosives 
  1. Radioactive material 
  1. Live animals 
  1. Items sent in furtherance of a fraudulent act or with the intention of avoiding full payment of appropriate charges
 
  1. Articles which by nature or their packaging may expose officials or the general public to danger, soil or damage other items 
  1. Insertion of correspondence in parcels 
  1. Printed matter and items for the blind shall not bear any inscription or contain any item of correspondence 
  1. Other articles the importation or circulation of which is prohibited in the country of destination 
  1. Dangerous goods
Articles or substances capable of posing risk to health, safety, property or the environment are classified as dangerous goods.  Many everyday items such as lithium batteries, cleaning fluids and perfumes are classified as dangerous goods and are forbidden in the mail, except those specifically referred to in the regulations to be admitted under specialized conditions  certified by relevant authorities.

 

 

RESTRICTED ITEMS

Licences/permits have to be obtained for the import/export of such items
  1. Meat and edible meat offal 
  1. Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers 
  1. Fish and other aquatic invertebrates 
  1. Dairy produce; birds' eggs; natural honey; edible products of animal origin, 
  1. Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth 
  1. Pharmaceutical products 
  1. Base minerals and articles of base metal 
  1. Ivory must be accompanied by a National Parks permit. Import licence issued by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce required. 
  1. Heritage and cultural products
